We are keen to get members in the air. After all, we are a flying club.
We want to encourage local fly outs which is a great way for people to cost share, hours build, gain experience, gain confidence etc. Fly outs are notoriously difficult to organise because they are so weather and availability dependent. With this is mind we thought we would try ‘Friday Flyday’. Every second Friday. Monitor the weather as Friday approaches, meet from 9am in the Squadron Office, see where the going is good and plan that morning together. Hirers can cost share, spare seats may be available with private owners etc. This could well end up being every Friday or the day could change, i.e. the idea is fluid but we need start somewhere.
The plan is to start small. To fly out somewhere local and build on it. Then, back at the Squadron Office, pull the BBQ out for those who want to stay on and compare notes. As the days get shorter this can evolve and we can have fish & chips or similar – so then ‘Friday Flyday Fryday’ (easy for you to say). Even if you don’t go on the fly out, come to the BBQ/fish & chips anyway, it’ll be late afternoon evening.
